Why a Blog?

The means of communication and information is ever evolving. There is a parallel world of BLOGS which is developing. There was a time when only the  ‘I, Me, Myself about Mundane things in daily lives’ blogs were on a roll. They are still there and they do have an audience! On the other hand, blogging is evolving. I come across many blogs with quality content, new ideas, and with a purpose.

Interesting read about why blogging will be bigger than ever in 2009. So here I am to enter the blog galaxy with my own spacebicycle.

Here are my reasons to have a blog.

1. Blog to put across ideas and messages A blog gives a great freedom to express your ideas. An opportunity to realise every little idea and thought which may just die without being shared. A blog can help to show your works without limiting to number of slides or pages. A platform to make yourself ’seen and heard’.

2. Blog to reach to more people
A blog is a chance to interact with the community. The community grows through a blog and a collective ownership has great power. An answer to our social instinct to belong to a community, meet a group of like minded people, have a social network or just to make one’s presence felt.

A blog can help to develop your career network. Read more about it here.

3. Blog as Food for Thought
A blog keeps you updated in your thinking, be it a professional or personal or social. It helps to develop the writing, researching and analyzing skills. Blogging is like training for your brain.

4. Blog to be better informed
The galaxy of information is vast to get lost in. A blogger is more informed than non-blogger. Blogging leads to many interesting and inspiring informative posts. I am an infoseeker and what other way to get fed than blogging myself.

5. Blogging is about being hardworking, responsible and self-disciplined
I believe there is a spiritual side of blogging. A separate topic worth a post!! I have experienced that honest blogs are the best ones!! More than being honest, being a blogger one has to be hardworking (time consuming research and writing), responsible (you are slave of your own words!!) and self-disciplined (Writing posts on a regular basis is tough tasks).

6. Blog to give back to my profession
A blog gives a chance to give back to the community. After just ‘take take take’ time, it is time to give back. A blog gives a chance to share your ideas, knowledge and experiences.

7. Blog to inspire and to get inspired
I stumble upon many interesting and inspiring topics on many blogs. A great way to know about topics of interest of your own. A blog to exchange ideas and think together to make this world an enjoyable and exciting place to live in.

And as they say that there are always three sides of the story. Here you can read why blogging is such a bad idea.

It will be interesting to know why you have a blog or do not have one.
